(town centre). Lively Tex-Mex restaurant doing good and inexpensive fajitas, tacos etc. Cheap E10-15 (6-9 pounds)

Castello
(town centre). If you can't decide what type of cuisine, come here. The menu has French, Italian, Greek and international dishes. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds)

Janis Restaurant
(Kalamionas Bay). Lovely sunset views from this popular venue right by the beach. Better than average food with a wide-ranging menu. The fresh fish is always good. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds)

Little Italy
(town centre). Typical bustling Italian restaurant with a lively atmosphere and good food, including pizzas and old favourites like spaghetti bolognaise. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pound)

Petrino's
(town centre). Family-run restaurant and wine bar which prides itself on its home-cooking. Try their moussaka or stuffed peppers. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds)

Porto
(on the harbour). Probably the best taverna for fish, and they'll show you what's fresh. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds)

Strofilia Taverna
(next to the square). Quite an extensive menu in this friendly taverna, with fresh fish usually available and a choice of Greek and international dishes. Good for vegetarians too. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds)

Szechuan Chinese Restaurant
(town centre). The place to go if you get a yearning for spring rolls or sweet and sour pork. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds).

The Three Brothers
(on the harbour). Large menu of typical Greek dishes such as moussaka, and look out for the fresh fish. Medium. E13-20 (8-12 pounds)

Taverna Nikolas
(Agni. Tel: 2663091136). Not in Kassiopi itself but around the coast. It's a popular choice for a night out as you can get a boat to take you there and back. It specialises in fresh fish, and is one of the few places where you might wish to book both a table and a boat ride! Expensive. E20-40 (12-24 pounds)

TOP TIP: If you really like your fish to be fresh, study the menu closely.
